Looking for IT support in Cardiff?

We look after businesses of 5 to 60 people across Cardiff and South Wales. Support is a fixed monthly fee per user with no hourly billing, and the figures are published. There are four of us, so the person who answers the phone is the person who fixes it.

You can see the price before you ring

Three levels, per user per month, published in full on the pricing page. Nobody else locally does this, and it is deliberate: if you cannot tell whether we are twenty pounds a user or two hundred, you will not call, and neither of us wants a meeting that was never going to go anywhere.

The people who answer do the work

No first line team reading from a script, no ticket number and a wait. You will know all of us by name within a month. That is the actual advantage of a four person company, and it is the reason we are staying that size.

Who you would be dealing with

The honest version

What does a local IT company actually give you?

Less than the phrase suggests, and more than you would think, but not in the places people expect.

Almost everything gets fixed remotely now, and that is genuinely better for you: it happens in minutes instead of the afternoon somebody was free to drive over. A provider two hundred miles away can do that part just as well as we can, and anybody telling you otherwise is selling you geography.

Where being down the road does matter is the day something needs a person: a switch that has died, an office move, a new starter’s desk, or a problem that has been described three different ways over email and needs somebody to come and look at it.

We do not have a shop you can walk into. There are four of us and we work from home, so the registered office at Alexandra Gate is a legal address rather than a place with a receptionist. We would rather say that than have you turn up somewhere and find nobody in. What you get instead is that when a visit is needed, it happens, and unlimited on site support is included from our Essential level upwards rather than charged by the hour.

Being local buys you a visit when you need one. It does not buy you better remote support, and anybody telling you it does is hoping you will not ask.

What we do

IT support and cyber security in Cardiff

Two things most people come to us for, and a handful of others clients ask us to take on once they would rather ring one number than four.

Managed IT support

Support that answers first time

The day to day. A helpdesk that a named person answers, machines monitored and patched, starters and leavers handled, and backup of your Microsoft 365 email and files. Fixed monthly fee per user, no hourly billing.

Cyber security

Security that someone is actually watching

Managed detection and response with a security operations centre reading the alerts around the clock, email security inside Microsoft 365, DNS and browser protection, vulnerability management, and email authentication so nobody can send invoices as you.

Cyber Essentials

Certification that wins the tender

We hold Cyber Essentials ourselves and we take clients through it to both levels, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. The full cost is laid out at the start, including what the certifying body charges.

Secure AI

AI your staff can use without leaking the business

People are already pasting company information into AI tools, whether it is sanctioned or not. We put something in place that they can use safely, with the controls and the visibility that the free tools do not give you. We start by auditing what those tools would currently be able to reach inside your business, which is almost always more than anyone expects.

Who we look after here

Three Cardiff businesses, three different problems

Most of our clients are in Cardiff, so these are three of many rather than the whole list. Nobody is named on this site until they have read what it says and agreed to it, so take the description rather than the name.

  • A chartered accountancy practice

An ageing server on the premises was due for replacement at twelve thousand pounds, and there was no multi factor authentication anywhere in the business. We moved them to Microsoft 365 with conditional access over a weekend, so the server budget paid for the migration instead of another box with a five year life on it. The money was going to be spent either way. It went on something that does not need replacing again in 2031.

  • A nursery

Files on staff and on children were held locally, and they needed Cyber Essentials. They came out of it fully backed up, protected against ransomware, with multi factor authentication across the board and a security stack behind it. We took on their telecoms, their broadband and their website as well, which for an organisation that size means one number to ring rather than four.

  • An estate agent across several offices

Sixty users, and more than eight years of telecoms and connectivity across every branch, with call recording, analytics and reporting on top. Estate agency runs on the telephone, and a valuation enquiry that rings out goes to whoever picks up next. Reporting is what turns that from an opinion into a number somebody can act on.

Who we look after in Cardiff

Every sector, one specialism

Most of what we do is not sector specific. In some sectors a regulator or a big client sets rules about how you handle data, and that changes what your IT has to do.

Law firms and solicitors

Cardiff has a substantial legal sector, and it is the one area we have gone deep on. The SRA expects firms to identify and manage material risks and to report an incident that touches clients, and most IT providers have never read a word of it.

Questions

The things Cardiff businesses ask first

How much does IT support cost in Cardiff?

Ours is a fixed monthly fee per user, published in full on the pricing page, with three levels and no hourly billing. We publish it because a business that cannot tell roughly what something costs does not ring, and because every provider in this market claims transparency and then hides the number. Bear in mind that nobody else locally publishes theirs, so a like for like comparison usually means asking each one directly.

Do you come out to our office, or is it all remote?

Both, and the honest split is that the large majority gets fixed remotely because that is faster for you. Unlimited remote and on site support is included from our Essential level upwards, so a visit is not a separate invoice or an hourly rate. When something needs a person in the room, somebody comes.

Can we come to your office?

There isn’t one to visit. There are four of us and we all work from home, so the registered office at Alexandra Gate Business Centre is a legal address rather than somewhere with a reception desk. We would rather tell you that than have you turn up and find the building has nothing to do with us day to day. We will happily come to you, or meet somewhere in town.

How quickly do you answer?

The helpdesk runs 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We deliberately do not publish an average response time, because our ticketing system cannot currently produce a figure we would be willing to stand behind, and a number we cannot substantiate is worse than no number. What we will tell you is that there are four of us, the person who answers is the person who fixes it, and there is no offshore first line team.

Do you only work with Cardiff businesses?

No. We are based in Cardiff and most of our clients are here or nearby, but we work across South Wales, Cardiff and the South West. Since almost everything is handled remotely, the practical question is not distance, it is whether you want somebody who can be in the room when it matters.

We already have an IT provider. What does switching involve?

We audit what is there before touching anything, and you get told what we found including the awkward parts. Unlicensed software goes, multi-factor authentication goes on, and clearing up what the last provider left is part of taking you on rather than a separate invoice. Minimum term is twelve months.

Do you provide cyber security in Cardiff as well as IT support?

Yes, and it is the other half of what we do. Managed detection and response with a security operations centre reading the alerts around the clock, email security sitting inside Microsoft 365, DNS and browser protection, and email authentication with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. All of that comes in at our Secure level rather than being sold as a separate contract. Security awareness training is included on Secure+ and available as its own line below that, and Cyber Essentials certification is priced on top when a client or a contract asks for it. What the security layer covers.

Next step

Start with the number

The rate card is published, so you already know roughly what this costs. What you cannot see from a website is whether we are any good, and the fastest way to test that is a phone call about something specific that is annoying you.
